I think He's trying to make a point

"Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on.  Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?  Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them.  Are you not of more value than they?  Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?  So why do you worry about clothing?  Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow:  they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.  Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?  There fore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'  For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.  But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.  Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things.  Sufficient for the day is its own trouble."  Matthew 6:25-34

Why is it that I'm so good at forgetting this?

I haven't written in a while, and I write now only to say:

Does anyone else think it's a little lousy that they chose to make spring break on the week where we lose an hour?

Everything was going along nicely.  I had gone to Bernie's, our sandwich shop on campus, and I had finished a study of the passage of verses in Philippians (yay Philippians!) with my Upstream partner for our Bible study tomorrow.  I had two chapters that needed to be read for a class, so I sat down in a large, squishy armchair (the best kind), opened my book (the boring kind), and began to read and underline.  I studied for about an hour and was making excellent progress.  The basketball game was on, and there was a nice buzz of conversation about the place.  It was an ideal study environment, until...

Yes, you guessed it.  The fire alarm went off.  Right in the middle of me being all diligent and staying away from my computer and all of the distractions that go with it, lights start to flash, a very loud, repetitive whistle starts to sound, and I hear the student employees say gleefully to each other, "We're still on the clock."  So I'm back at my desk and typing on xanga.  So much for progress.

So in Philosophy today we discussed the idea of whether or not you can know anything at all because it all might really be a dream.  I'm not sure of the conclusion that we reached, but I do know that I have the Cinderella song "A Dream is a Wish your Heart Makes" stuck in my head.  Geez!  How old am I?  Did I mention that on our ice days we coloured (yay British spelling!) about a dozen or so Disney princess pictures?  Yeah, I'd gauge my age at around 4 and 1/2.

PS- I think it's nap time.  That is definitely one of the things that college students and four year-olds have in common.

Duped

I've figured it out.  They tricked us.  School was supposed to start tomorrow, just like it is scheduled to.  The administration never planned to have us start classes two days ago.  The professors got together and decided that they were sick and tired of having all of these whiny, spoiled college students in on the first day of classes griping and complaining that break didn't feel nearly long enough, so they decided to make a plan.  It went something like this:

Prof. 2 (yes, he can speak first even though his name is 2; rid yourselves of those stereotypes, people):  If I have to deal with one more kid in my class blaming me for Christmas break being over, I'll feed all 45,000 students to Reveille myself.

Prof. 1:  I'm pretty sure they won't let you do that, Cliff.  Some guy tried that last year, and they got really worried about the dog.  Students are replaceable, but Rev...well, that's different.

Prof. 2:  Fine.  But I have a plan to make it all stop.  I'll need your help.

Prof. 1:  Yes, I will be the executor of your will.

Prof. 2:  Huh?

Prof. 1:  Oh, never mind then.  What's your plan?

Prof. 2:  We schedule "inclement weather" days.  Whether the weather is 76 and sunny or below freezing, we call the first two scheduled days of class "inclement weather" days (and nobody really knows what that means anyway) and we really begin on Thursday.  By then, all of these kids will have been trapped in College Station for at least three days with absolutely nothing to do.  They'll be begging to come back to class.

Prof. 1:  Not bad, Cliff.  Not bad at all.

So, we had two inclement weather days, and used them to their fullest potential, which I'm afraid to say wasn't much, seeing as it was not 76 and sunny.  We watched most of the movies we brought with us, ate, and colored lots and lots of pictures.  And (if you have heart problems, please do not read the following statement) I even broke down yesterday and went to the Rec with Kara, Karen, Chloe, and Brian and worked out.  It hurt.  I realized once more why I generally refuse all physical activity.

I'm just ready to do something, even if it is class.
